Something which doesn't help is that we live in a world that it debt by design. You need to take out debt to be worthy of more debt!

How many people actually pay their credit cards in full every month? Very few i suspect. If you can do that, do you really need to take out a crippling repayment schedule.

I would suggest a little thing. Set an amount every day. Say as little as £2 a day. What could you do to spend £2 less a day. Walk to work instead of getting the bus, get supermarket ketchup instead of Heinz, make a sandwich instead of buying one from shop etc.

£2 seems like nothing but over a year it adds up. I appreciate that if you are in absolute poverty (which few in the western world really are) this could be impossible. However switch your mentality to medium term accumulation from short term panic it can be done. I know People who have become very wealthy from "simple" strategies. Im not saying £2 a day will make you rich. Im not that naive!

Also nobody will go to jail for not paying their electricity bill. Its never happened in UK history! Not sure about rest of world but dont let companies bully you
